FAQs
Can I come on a casual basis?
Of course! Casuals are welcome to any of our sessions for $20 per session.
Can I bring my children?
YES! This is the whole point of Fit Mama – children of all ages are welcome at all of our sessions.
What if my baby cries?
We are all mothers and an understanding group of women! Your baby is your priority and the class environment fits with that – if you need to feed you baby, feed her; if she has to be cuddled, we will adapt exercises to suit. There have never been any complaints about babies being upset!
I don’t think I’m fit enough to start …
Fit Mama classes are where you come to improve your fitness and not at all a place where you will be judged. We are all mothers and have been in this same boat, so know how hard it is getting back into exercise. The classes cater for all levels of fitness, and any injuries/health conditions. Exercises can be easily modified to suit your fitness level if needed.
What do I need to bring?
We ask that you bring along a mat or towel to lie on; a water bottle and a sweat towel, plus anything you need for your little ones or yourself. I recommend wearing comfortable sports shoes and dressing in layers so you can remove them as you warm up.
What happens if I can’t make a session?
The Fit Mama program gives you many options of classes to attend. We understand that with small children, committing every week can be difficult so you are encouraged to make up any missed sessions within that current term.
Please note; missed classes cannot be carried over to the next term.
Do I ‘use’ my baby/child in the class?
Children aren’t ‘used’ in the classes. I find it’s too difficult as some baby’s sleep, some are too heavy, and getting them in and out of pushchairs is too fiddly! If you do need to hold your child, that is perfectly fine, we can work around that – and your arms will thank you for the extra weight!
My children are at daycare/school – do I have to have children with me to join the classes?
Not at all! Children are welcome, not essential.
How many locations are there?
At this stage, all classes are held in Oratia, West Auckland. If you would like a class in your area, please get in touch. We may be able to set something up! Email info@fitmama.co.nz
Are there classes on public holidays?
There are NO sessions held on public holidays (unless otherwise stated). If your class falls on a public holiday you are encouraged to attend another session to make up the one missed.
What happens if it rains?
Our sessions between May – September are held indoors (with the exception of Saturday morning). If it’s terrible weather during our outdoor period we have use of the Oratia Settlers Hall on a casual basis. If it’s free that day the session will be moved and those signed up for class will be notified.
